Alumni-Elected Regent Candidates

Baylor University, Baylor Line Foundation Announce Slate of Alumni-Elected Regent Candidates

WACO, Texas (Feb. 21, 2018) – Baylor University, in conjunction with the Baylor Line Foundation, has announced the slate of alumni-elected Regent candidates presented for election this spring.

The candidates are:

  • William Kevin Cherry, B.A. (Business Administration) ’79, J.D. (Law) ’82, Dallas, Texas
  • Wayne Fisher, B.B.A. (Finance) ’61, J.D. (Law) ’61, Houston, Texas
  • Katie Jo Baumgardner Luningham, B.A. (University Scholar) ’11, Kansas City, Missouri
  • Mark Allen Newton, B.A. (Religion) ’85, Lufkin, Texas
  • Rusty Phenix, B.A. (Law) ’84, J.D. (Law) ’84, Henderson, Texas
  • Gordon Wilkerson, B.B.A. (Accounting/Real Estate) ’82, Lubbock, Texas

More information about the candidates will be provided to alumni in the spring issue of Baylor Magazine, on the Baylor website at www.baylor.edu and through the University’s social media channels. Credentials for voting will be provided to all degree-holding alumni of the University by mail and/or email in advance of the voting period. The election will be conducted by an independent third party from April 23 through May 2.

The two candidates receiving the most votes will serve three-year terms on the Baylor Board of Regents.

The candidates, whose nominations were supported by the signatures of at least 50 other Baylor graduates or who were nominated by official advisory and advocacy boards and groups associated with the University, were considered by a nominating committee. The committee was comprised of two sitting alumni-elected Regents not up for re-election and two other Regents.
