Baylor

Sing Results

Baylor closed out their final weekend of Sing 2026 and, for the first time in the chapter’s history, Beta Upsilon Chi was awarded first place for their act “Grill of Rights”. Second place was awarded to Phi Kappa Chi for their act “Cold as Ice,” and third place was awarded to Tri Delta for their act “When a Mouse Eats a Cookie.” These acts, along with five others, will perform at Baylor homecoming in Pigskin Review this Fall.

New Era for ROTC

Since its establishment in 2001, Baylor’s ROTC program has been steadily growing. Originally, the “Bear Battalion” was an extension of the host Army ROTC program at Texas Christian University.

However, Baylor is now its own host program as it continues to grow with an average of 80 cadets on campus each year. With the upgrade comes the addition of a lieutenant colonel and professor of military science on campus – Lt. Col. Kyle Friesen.

“Over the last 14 years, the Baylor program has grown through the success of supporting cadre and cadet participation to produce leaders of character, fully prepared to serve and commission as second lieutenants into the U.S. Army,” Friesen said, according to a Baylor Press Release. “Our cadre team of professionals are dedicated to continuing to build upon that foundation to carry the mission forward for our cadets.”

Record Enrollment at Truett

George W. Truett Theological Seminary has set a new enrollment record for the Spring 2026 semester, welcoming 495 students. The seminary’s most expansive master’s program, the Master of Divinity, has increased enrollment by 17% in the past two years.

“This is an extraordinary year,” said Toby Osburn, EdD, assistant dean of student services, according to an article on their webpage. “Enrollment growth over five consecutive spring terms is no small accomplishment given the recent state of graduate theological education in North America; achieving a spring enrollment higher than all previous fall enrollments is quite another.”

National Technological Leadership Award

Dr. Karis Jones, assistant professor of English Education for the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at Baylor University’s Moody School of Education, received an award from The English Language Arts Teacher Educators, a branch of the National Council of Teachers of English, for her part in developing the #HackYourStack database

The database houses free resources for teachers, including academic research, mentor texts, and other digital tools. The goal of the initiative is to incorporate students’ hobbies and interests, like music and movies, into lesson plans.

Jones and her colleagues intend to keep adding to the database and build on teacher crowdsourcing,

The shows will start approximately an hour and 45 minutes before each of the 6 Baylor home games. Performers will be announced throughout the season.

Beautiful Baylor

Baylor has long been admired for its beauty. This year, U.S. News & World Report has recognized it as one of the nation’s 30 most beautiful college campuses.

Among the features the publication highlighted are the university’s Georgian-style architecture, the red brick used throughout campus, and the impressive gold dome of Pat Neff Hall.
