Taking Flight

Fast Forward almost 65 years, and Henry was once again soaring through the skies.

As part of the Ageless Aviation Dream Flight project in Wisconsin, Jame was selected to take a special flight in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train military aviators in the 1940s. James was one of eight senior residents across Wisconsin selected from 378 applicants to fly over the Milwaukee, Wisconsin region on July 12, 2019.

James Henry never became a pilot himself but has lived his enthusiasm for aviation through his son, David G. Henry (‘82, JD’ 85), pilot of his own Cessna 310. One significant father-son aviation experience was a flight in a For Tri–Motor with his son, David, as co-pilot. James also once had an opportunity to fly in a B-17 at the Waco Regional Airport.

James and his entire family have been immersed in Baylor since the 1950s. His children and grandchildren have all attended Baylor, and have served in faculty, staff and volunteer positions.
