Ideas Worth Spreading
Baylor will host its inaugural TEDxBaylor University event “Innovation in Deeds,” independently organized under a TED license, on Saturday, November 8. Speakers for the event will include Baylor faculty, staff, and students, as well as local community members, and will be selected by a curation committee. “Bringing TEDx to Waco and Baylor not only helps to encourage and foster a community of innovation, but it also shows that our community and institution are thought leaders in the global landscape of big ideas,” said Jeremy Vickers, associate vice president for Innovation & Economic Development.
Visas Reinstated
The visas of three international students were temporarily reinstated this week by the federal government. The reinstatement of the visas comes on the heels of the unexplained revocation of some 1,220 students’ visas across the country in early April. According to Baptist News Global, “Many students were not notified when the records were purged from the system, while others were told political activism or alleged criminal activity led to the revocation. In many cases, students did not learn of the status changes until notified by their colleges and universities and had no idea why they were targeted.”

Commencement
The newest batch of Baylor alumni will walk across the stage next Friday and Saturday! A few members of The Baylor Line’s team are graduating this year: we’ll hang on to social media manager Lauryn Edwards and office administrator Libby Claassen as long as we can before sending them off to fling their green and gold afar this summer. Plus our newest staff member, digital editor Kassidy Tsikitas, will join us full time following graduation.
