Refurbished Ferrell
The board of regents will vote today on a potential remodel of the Ferrell Center, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald. Though Baylor officials declined to comment prior to Friday’s vote, a newsletter from the Waco office of Associated General Contractors of America reported the work could include interior demolition, new interior walls, ceilings, finishes, millwork, and other changes.
Full of Fulbright
A record 21 students and recent alumni have been selected for this year’s round of Fulbright U.S. Student Grants, which allows recipients to pursue graduate study, conduct research, or teach English in over 140 countries.
The list of recipients includes:
- Devon Bolton (’24), who will teach English in Morocco,
- Eliana Galan (’24), who will teach English in the Czech Republic,
- Kirsta Wichterman (’24), who will teach English in Bulgaria,
- Isabelle Zgorzelski (’23), who will teach English in Argentina,
- And so many Baylor seniors who are bound to fling their Green and Gold afar.
Tying Up Track & Field
Last week the Baylor track and field team closed its conference season with a showing at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships at Rock Chalk Park. The women finished fourth with 84.5 points and the men in ninth with 47 points, with Nathaniel Ezekiel breaking his own Big 12 meet record in the 400m hurdles, Calisha Taylor breaking the 50-meter school record, and Demario Prince breaking the school record in the 110-meter hurdles.
The NCAA West Preliminary rounds start next Wednesday, with the NCAA Outdoor Championships extending into June.
Big 12 Baseball
Ending its regular season with a 33-21 record overall (13-17 in conference play), No. 10 seed Baylor baseball made an appearance at the Big 12 Championship this week, facing off against No. 7 seed OSU on Wednesday. It was the Bears’ first conference tournament appearance since 2022.
Despite their efforts, the Bears fell 4-3 to OSU in the first round. NCAA Regionals start next week, followed by the Super Regionals and College World Series extending into June.
