Guided by Grace: An Interview with Dr. Jeter Basden

Dr. Jeter Basden reflects on decades of mentoring future ministry leaders and leaving a lasting legacy rooted in care, guidance, and calling.

Welcome to ‘Episode Four’ of The Baylor Line’s flagship podcast, The Green Room

In this heartfelt conversation, host Jonathon Platt sits down with his longtime mentor and personal hero, retired Director of Baylor’s Ministry Guidance Program and Professor of Religion, Dr. Jeter Basden.

His leadership helped shape generations of students preparing for lives of service, guiding them through the discernment of their calling with both theological depth and pastoral care.

Dr. Jeter Basden emphasizes the importance of membership, the integration of faith and learning, and the need for the church to engage with contemporary social issues. Through his commitment to supporting ministry students, he and his wife, Claudette, established the Basden Family Guidance Endowed Scholarship.

His wisdom and deduction continue to inspire – listen to the full episode to hear how one professor’s legacy shaped generations of ministry leaders.

We’ll have more new episodes of The Green Room for you every Monday and Thursday – stay tuned for the incredible list of guests we’ve already lined up, namely:
