Exploring Gender, Race, And Media: An Interview with Dr. Mia Moody

Dr. Mia Moody shares her research on digital blackface, Black identity, and cultural appropriation.

Welcome to ‘Episode 18’ of The Baylor Line’s flagship podcast, The Green Room.

Host Jonathon Platt meets with Dr. Mia Moody, professor and former chair of the Baylor University Department of Journalism, Public Relations, and New Media. Known for mentoring students within the journalism department and in-depth research into image repair, intersectionality, critical race theory, and media framing of women and people of color, Moody dives into her career defined by leadership, change, and her journey from reporter to professor.

After graduating from a certain school in College Station not to be named, Moody moved to Waco to work for the Waco Tribune-Herald, what she once thought would be a temporary stop that led to the foundation of her career. Platt and Moody talk about her nationally recognized research and how she has broken barriers as the first woman of color to chair an academic department at the University.

Tune in to hear a story of empowerment and resilience.
