Dear Diary,
In the summer of 1967, I found myself with three fraternity brothers in Pensacola, Florida, going through pilot training, unbeknownst to each other.
Two were former roommates and pledge brothers, and the other pledged the following semester.
Two of us were in the Navy pipeline, while the other two were in the Marine Corps. Three of us became helicopter pilots, and the fourth went fixed-wing patrol.
The two Marine helicopter pilots went to Vietnam and never made it back: Bill Tom Hale and Curtis Rogers.
The Navy Patrol pilot got out of the service after completing his tour and became a lawyer in Dallas, TX: Richard MacMillian.
I completed twenty years in the Naval Service and completed twenty years as a high school teacher before retiring.
